Introduction: Chicken curry is one of the most popular dishes among Bengalis. Who else doesn’t love spicy, tangy, mouth-watering chicken curry? Today I am going to share my chicken curry recipe with you.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken
  • Mustard oil
  • Onion paste
  • Ginger-garlic paste
  • paste of green chilies
  • Powdered red chilli
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • Whisked yoghurt
  • Tomato paste
  • Potato (cut into large pieces)
  • Kasuri methi
  • Garam masala with cloves, cinnamon stick, and green cardamom)
  • Bay leaf
  • black pepper corn
  • Lemon juice
  • Garam masala powder

Method:

  1. First, we have to marinate the chicken, so take the chicken into a large bowl, then add the ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, black pepper powder, green chilli paste, salt, turmeric powder, and oil. Now marinate all the masala with the chicken properly.
  1. Now place this marinated chicken in the refrigerator (at least for 1 hour).
  1. Now heat a pan, add oil, and fry those potato pieces until they are golden brown.
  1. Now heat a pan, add mustard oil, then add some garam masala to the pan. Now add onion paste and ginger garlic paste to the pan and saute the masala for 4 to 5 minutes. Then add tomato paste and saute again on a medium flame. Now add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and whisked yogurt, then saute all the masala until the oil comes out separately from the masala.
  1. Now add the marinated chicken to the masala and saute well until the chicken turns pale. Now lower the flame, cover the pan with a lid, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  1. Heat 1 cup of water in a separate bowl.
  1. Now pour 1 cup of water, or as needed.
  1. Make sure the amount of water is enough to boil the chicken. Now cover and cook on a low to medium flame for 15 to 20 minutes.
  1. Now check if the chicken is properly boiled or not with the help of a fork. Taste the curry to check for salt, then add some crushed Kasuri methi (fenugreek leaves).
  1. Finally, stir in a teaspoon of garam masala. Now switch off the stove. and it's ready to serve.
